Rumours have been circulating recently that former Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson has been the latest victim of the Strictly curse and has been getting cosy with professional dancer Gorka Marquez – despite actually being paired with Aljaž Škorjanec.
However, the Strictly Come Dancing contestant has spoken out to OK! magazine about the speculation and has set the record straight.
The 32-year-old revealed where those rumours were sparked from: ‘There was an online poll that asked who I should get with and they said Gorka, so it started there…’
Gemma continued: ‘I’ve only seen him for the launch and the live shows. He’s a friend and the only thing we’ve shared is his guacamole recipe.’
Even if it’s not true, we really couldn’t blame Gemma for fancying Gorka…
Referring to the claims that she got close to the dancer at his birthday party, she shut down the speculation simply stating: ‘He didn’t have a birthday party.’
Elaborating, the actress went on: ‘All of us were staying in the same hotel…one night before the launch, about 15 of us had a meal together and we told the restaurant to bring out a cake for Gorka.’

‘We all sang Happy Birthday and I was sitting with Simon Rimmer and Giovanni Pernice, not Gorka, but I read we were all over each other, it wasn’t true,’ she explained.
Gorka was previously engaged to Lauren Sheridan – a fellow pro-dancer – but the pair split last year.
Gemma was partnered with Aljaž on Strictly
Gemma has also been single since 2016 after ending her relationship with boyfriend Olly Foster.

And despite having admitted in the past that she wants a child by the age of 31, the blonde beauty revealed that her feelings have changed: ‘I’ve put it back now to 35 or 36. A thousand per cent I want kids, but if someone said to me: ‘Right, tomorrow you can meet the love of your live and have a baby and get married,’ I’d say no.’
She explained: ‘I mentally don’t feel in that place. I thought I would be ready for kids at this age, but I’m not.’
