The 40-year-old actor appeared on This Morning today, and viewers couldn't get their heads around his beard-free look
Tonight’s the night! It’s the season finale of Doctor Foster, and we’ll finally learn if cheating husband Simon Foster lives or dies.
If you missed last week’s episode, let us fill you in. At the very end of the show, we saw Simon’s ex-wife Gemma (Suranne Jones) appear to drive her car directly at him with full force.
But she also seemed to turn the wheel at the last minute… was she just trying to give him a scare? GAH, hurry up 9pm.

Bertie Carvel – who plays Simon – appeared on This Morning today, where he chatted to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about the intense cliffhanger.
But wait… WAS that Bertie? Because he looked pretty damn different to the man we’ve been watching on our screens for the past few weeks.
Even Holly and Phil commented on his transformation, with Bertie joking that it was down to a mixture of ‘acting and the beard’.

Of course, Twitter quickly erupted with messages from confused viewers.
One wrote: ‘Omg Bertie Carvel looks SO different with no beard!!!!!!!!!

When asked about Simon’s fiery relationship with Gemma, the 40-year-old actor explained: ‘He hates her, he loves her, he’s incredibly angry not just with Gemma but with himself.’
But he was giving nothing away when the subject of a third series came up.
Bertie teased: ‘Your guess is as good at mine, this may be my final ever appearance on television.’
What does THAT mean?! We guess we’ll just have to wait until tonight to find out…
