The couple made their first public appearance together at the weekend, but it wasn't as cosy as some had hoped...

It’s happened! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their first public appearance together.
The couple attended the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada on Saturday night, where Harry gave an impassioned speech about the sporting event.

But while they’ve been dating for almost a year, Meghan and Harry didn’t actually sit together. Instead, they were placed several rows apart. Oh.
Harry, 34, was seated in the VIP box, alongside US First Lady Melania Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
Suits star Meghan, 36, was in a separate section, alongside friend Markus Anderson, who introduced her to the prince.

But don’t worry, this isn’t a bad sign. There was a very good reason why Harry and Meghan weren’t side by side.
Because Meghan isn’t a royal or a dignitary, it would have breached protocol if she’d sat with Harry, the First Lady and the Canadian PM.
And despite the fact that she was so far away from her man, Meghan did reportedly have a royal protection officer next to her. This is a pretty big deal, showing that she’s already being treated like a member of the family.
It’s also been said that Harry couldn’t help stealing a few glances at his other half. Aw.

Harry set up the Invictus Games in 2014, for wounded, sick or injured armed services personnel. This year’s event features 550 athletes from 17 nations competing in 12 sports, including wheelchair basketball, archery and golf.
Toronto is a pretty handy place for Harry and Meghan, as the American actress films legal drama Suits in the city.
Now that they’ve stepped out together, rumours of an engagement are at an all-time high. Eee, we can only hope and wait…
