The loved-up couple have just welcomed their first child, but Liam Payne has now revealed that Cheryl almost called it quits on their 18-month relationship.
The couple are known for keeping their private life off the radar. In fact, they only publicly spoke about Chez being pregnant after she gave birth. But following months of maintaining a silence, 23-year-old Liam has revealed it’s not all been cute baby names and matching tattoos.

Liam, who’s just released his debut single Strip That Down, revealed in an interview with The Sun that he had to ‘cling on’ to their relationship after 33-year-old Cheryl began to have doubts. It was such an emotional moment for the pair, that it inspired Liam to dedicate an entire song to a phone call he had with Chez at the time.
‘There’s one song that is basically a phone call that happened between me and her when she was about to let it go,’ says Liam.
‘This is a long time ago. And it’s basically me trying to cling on and say: “No, no, no it’s all going to work out — don’t worry about it, give it time.”’

It’s fair to say it’s been a bit of a whirlwind for Chez and Liam. The pair are thought to have been dating since December 2015 after Cheryl separated and divorced ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini. The couple later confirmed their romance in a cute Insta-snap.
Speaking about the first time he met Cheryl, Liam also revealed he was mocked by school mates for winking at Chez during his X Factor audition, age 14.

‘I got back to school the next day and when my friends saw it they were literally ripping me,’ said Liam.
‘Now they can’t say it didn’t work. The wink is powerful, it has powers beyond its own means.’
Wink or no wink, it seems like these two are totally smitten. Speaking about Chez and baby Bear, Liam said: ‘Our love for each other couldn’t be more serious.’ TOO CUTE.
