There’s been pretty big news for Love Island fans today, as last year’s winners Cara de la Hoyde and Nathan Massey have announced that they’re expecting their first child.
Despite the fact that they confirmed their break-up in April, the 26-year-old has shared the happy news and says that her former beau, 24-year-old Nathan, is committed to being there for both her and the baby – although a romantic reconciliation isn’t on the cards.
Opening up about her life-changing news in a new interview, Cara explained exactly how she discovered that she was expecting her first child.
Cara revealed that a medical appointment had alerted her to the news.
Talking of her time at the doctors, Cara told OK! magazine: ‘They have to check if you’re pregnant first, but I said to the doctor: “I don’t think there’s any need for that!”
‘They did it anyway and a nurse came back and said: “You’re pregnant!”
‘I was with my mum and we just looked at each other in complete shock. I went in for one thing and came out expecting a baby.’
Touching on her relationship with Nathan, who she met on last year’s Love Island, she continued: ‘We’re still good friends.
‘He’s going to be there for the baby and I’m making him aware of all the midwife appointments and scans, so he’s in the loop and so’s his mum.’
The reality star, who has also been appearing in The Only Way Is Essex, shared the very first photo of her bump this morning, telling fans: ‘So glad that I can finally announce to you all that I’m going to be a Mummy 
thankyou for everyone’s kind words and support ❤️’.
Her fans were quick to congratulate her, with comments including: ‘Congratulations!!!! You’re going to be an amazing mum! 
’ and ‘Omg! Congratulations Cara! What wonderful news 
’.
Cara’s Love Island BFF, Olivia Buckland, also took to Twitter to show her support. She wrote: ‘I’ve been holding it in for so long but finally can congratulate my two friends. @Miss_Delahoyde & @NathanMassey_ lots of love to you both ❤’.
