In the past few weeks, we’ve done our fair share of speculating over Cheryl and Liam Payne’s chosen baby name. But while we went back and forth between Alfie, Taylor, Simon, Liam Jr (even Gary was thrown around a couple of times), we never anticipated the name Bear.
While fans are pretty confused (one tweeted: ‘Bear Payne is a feeling you get when you stand on Lego not a baby’s name’), we think baby Bear is seriously cute – and what’s more, we’ve got the inside scoop on why Cheryl, 33, and Liam, 23, may have chosen it.

According to reports, the pair picked the name over a month after their baby was born because they felt it suited his personality. But, according to a source speaking exclusively to LOOK, Cheryl and Liam may have chosen the name for business reasons.
‘Cheryl and Liam are really trying to carve out a niche around Bear,’ says our source. ‘Picking an off-beat name in the same way that the Beckhams did for their boys is a clear sign they want him to have an instantly identifiable name for years down the line.
‘If they didn’t want him in the spotlight, they would have picked a plain and understated name, but it’s a sign they want a real personality for Bear. They seem to be carving out his celebrity status already.’

According to insiders, their chosen name could also be down to Liam’s attempts to rebrand his image within the music industry.
Eagle-eyed fans have been quick to notice his change in appearance, which is said to be in line with his upcoming new music. On a recent Instagram image of Liam posing in a gold chain, one user commented: ‘To compare you to the old Liam, [you’ve] really changed.’
We’re giving our full blessing, and we can’t wait to see baby Bear grow up…
