LOOK's Beauty Editor Lydia Thompson jetted off to Coachella with GHD and Look Influencer Mollie King for four days of summer style, goss and amazing hair…

4 Day Festival Hair

Day 1: Embellished Rope Braid
Mollie says: ‘I love how the punk-inspired hair rings give the braid an edgy overhaul.’

Patrick Wilson, Ambassador for ghd, explains how to get Mollie’s look…
1 Apply a texturising powder like Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder, £22 to your locks to give the hair grip. Then create loose waves all over by placing your ghd Platinum Tropic Sky Styler, £175 vertically into the root of the hair and twisting 360° as you push it through to the ends of your tresses.

2 Make a deep side parting and then add a rope twist braid to one side, taking two pieces of hair and twisting them in the same direction, then crossing over in the opposite direction. Gently pull apart the twist to loosen.

3 Finally, take Regal Rose Hair Rings, £11 and place them at randomly chosen points throughout the rope braid to add embellishment to the look. Then set the look with hairspray.

Day 2: Textured Pony
Hair ribbons add girly twist to festival style.

Patrick Wilson, Ambassador for ghd, explains how to get Mollie’s look

1 Apply Oribe Travel Sized Dry Texturising Spray, £20 and then use your ghd Amber Sunrise Styler, £139 to create beachy waves.

2 Add volume to the roots by backcombing, then use fingers to pull hair back into a low ponytail and secure it with a hair elastic.

3 Finish the look by gently pulling out a few pieces at the front to soften, then tie a ribbon into a bow and set the look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray, £17.25.

“This low- maintenance style was great – I felt so chic and I got lots of compliments”

Day 3: Glam Waves
A classic style that’s easier than it looks…

Patrick Wilson, Ambassador for ghd, explains how to get Mollie’s look…

1 Blow-dry hair with a round brush then backcomb at the roots for extra volume.

2 Take medium sections of hair and curl in the same direction for a synchronised- looking wave.

3 Allow the hair to cool and set. Brush out the curls so they form a smooth wave, then tuck one side behind your ear and pin in three clips just above the ear.

“Adorning these luxe-looking, polished waves with rose-gold clips gave the style a modern festival edge”

Day 4: Dusky Pink Plaits
The last day gives you the perfect excuse to go all-out with your tresses. Insta-worthy pastel braids, anyone?

Patrick Wilson, Ambassador for ghd, explains how to get Mollie’s look…

1 Add some grip to the hair with a texturising spray. Create a centre parting with a tail comb. Then make soft waves using the ghd Soft Curl Tong, £120 gently through your hair.

2 Create a triangular section from the parting to the crown and create a Dutch braid by taking sections from underneath as you plait the hair. Then secure with grips.

3 For a pop of colour, spray the braids with L’Oréal Colorista Spray in Pastel Pink, £6.99, then use hairspray to secure the style.

“This look was the most fun! I’ve never tried colour so bright but I loved it – it’s given me the courage to experiment with my hair more”

Mollie’s festival hair, beauty and fash essentials

1 The Gypsy Shrine Mermaid Glitter in Dark Mermaid, Dark Unicorn and Unicorn Dreams, £5 each. This adds a bit of added sparkle and fun to any look.

2 YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick in 44 Nude Lavalliere, £27: This is a natural-coloured lipstick that can be easily reapplied without a mirror. And it complements all looks.

3 Estée Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter, £24.50: This is the perfect under-eye cover-up for the morning after festivals, to give a dewy, highlighted glow.

4 ghd Platinum Tropic Sky Styler, £175: This tool creates bohemian waves for a lived-in look. Plus it’s really easy to use and can be used for all different hairstyles, from straight to wavy.

5 Taylor Morris Rollright Sunglasses, £180: These are my go-to. Fun and sophisticated– the perfect combination for a festival.

6 Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream, £70: This cream feels silky on my skin. It’s the perfect hydrating prep for festival make-up.

7 Hawaiian Tropic Air Soft SPF 30 Lotion, £10.50: The nozzle on this SPF spray makes it easy to use. I’ve always got to wear sun cream and be protected.

8 Batiste Dry Shampoo Original Clean & Classic, £2.99: Dry shampoo is an essential for when there’s no time or access to a shower
in the morning.

What do you love most about Coachella?

It’s so chilled-out and fun, plus the setting is incredible and the sun is always shining. The acts are always amazing too, and when you walk into the festival and see the iconic Coachella wheel you know you’ve arrived.

Who are your Coachella style icons and why?
Sincerely Jules for sure– she’s my favourite fashion blogger. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley always looks great too, and Olivia Culpo is my festival beauty icon – her skin is totally flawless and she always looks glam without looking too done.

What’s your favourite festival look this summer?

I love floral fashion, and also adorned hair; whether that’s plaits or braids, temporary hair colour or hair rings, the bigger statement the better as far as I’m concerned.

How do you prep beauty-wise for festival season?

I try to do a face mask the day before so that my skin glows, and then my base can be kept quite natural. I make sure to have a spray tan too so my skin looks its best for the entire festival. Oh, and a good pedi is essential.
