Katie Hopkins has caused a huge stir (again) with her new column...

Prince William Harry

Katie Hopkins is at it again.

The media personality doesn’t shy away from sharing a controversial opinion or two, and this time she’s gone after the Royals. Well, Prince William and Prince Harry, to be precise.

The brothers were praised this week for their campaign work around mental health. Each of them came forward to talk about the issue, and they also joined the Duchess of Cambridge to lead the Heads Together campaign, hoping to erase the stigma which, sadly, can still surround the issue.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will attend this year’s @londonmarathon together for the first time to support runners taking part in their mental health campaign @heads_together, which is this year’s Charity of the Year for the Marathon. All 39,000 Virgin Money London Marathon runners will be given a special Heads Together headband which they can wear on race day to be part of the national movement to end the stigma around mental health once and for all. During the week leading up to the marathon Their Royal Highnesses will attend several events in support of #TeamHeadsTogether – Heads Together wants to make this year’s marathon the ‘mental health marathon’ that gets the country talking about mental health and Their Royal Highnesses will cheer on all runners at points along the route on Marathon day!

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Prince Harry got candid about his own experiences following the tragic death of his mother.

He told the publication: ‘My way of dealing with it was sticking my head in the sand, refusing to ever think about my mum, because why would that help?

‘(I thought) it’s only going to make you sad, it’s not going to bring her back.

‘So from an emotional side, I was like “right, don’t ever let your emotions be part of anything.”’

He added: ‘And then (I) started to have a few conversations and actually all of a sudden, all of this grief that I have never processed started to come to the forefront and I was like, there is actually a lot of stuff here that I need to deal with.’

The Duke of Cambridge followed suit a few days later, shedding light on the importance of speaking out on mental health. He said that the ‘stiff upper lip’ culture should come to an end, and went on to say that he wants Prince George and Princess Charlotte to be able to talk openly about their own emotions.

The public praised the pair on the weight of their words, with social media reactions including: ‘It takes real courage to publicly speak about your mental health issues. Well done Prince Harry 4 raising awareness’ and ‘Thank you, thank you Prince Harry and @bryony_gordon .Let’s smash this stigma surrounding mental health problems. Such honesty from Harry…’

Now, Katie Hopkins has decided to share her thoughts.

The 42-year-old wrote in her column for the Daily Mail: ‘Is there any chance Prince William and Prince Harry could just put a sock in it for a bit and quit bleating on about their struggle for sanity?’

She continued, ‘In public, I prefer to hold it together. I prefer to keep something of the stiff upper lip. If people ask me how I am I say ‘I’m great, thank you’ no matter what. Because our days are somehow better that way.

‘As yet another celebrity is applauded for speaking out about their mental health struggles, I wish more people would decide to keep their emotions private for their family.’

Safe to say that we don’t agree with her. And, thankfully, neither do a lot of other people.

Users have taken to Twitter to call her out for her words, with reactions including: ‘What they are doing is raising awareness of something which is still not widely spoken about! Grow up!’ and ‘.@KTHopkins They’re encouraging others to seek help, and your boring, predictable contrarianism is likely to do a lot of harm. Well done.’
