Famed for flip flops with a conscience, Gandys has now expanded its offering to include the sorts of clothes that'll form the foundation of your summer wardrobe...

After brothers Rob and Paul Forkan tragically lost their parents in the 2004 tsunami that hit Sri Lanka, they decided to create something that would contribute to the greater good, and honour their parents’ adventurous spirit. Gandys was born in 2012, primarily focusing on flip flops designed to ultimately allow the boys to establish their charity, Orphans for Orphans.
With the shared dream of opening a children’s home (which they’ve accomplished in Sri Lanka) the duo designed the ultimate summer shoe, gaining an eclectic A-list fan club in the form of Jessica Alba, Michelle Keegan, Little Mix and One Direction. The flip flops were even given the Royal seal of approval when the boys were invited to the Palace to meet Prince Harry.
Gandys has previously collaborated with Liberty, producing flip flops in iconic prints from the British department store and even worked with The Rolling Stones last year (who were their Dad’s favourite band) to produce a range of flip flops, bags and towels bearing the iconic Rolling Stones logo.
Now, the brothers have decided to expand the Gandys brand to include apparel, too. “We’re really excited to be launching our first ever clothing collection,” says Rob. “This is really going to help us to be able to build our next children’s home in Malawi. Gandys has had a huge following over the last few years and a lot of people have supported Gandys by purchasing flip flops, our round towels and accessories so hopefully the clothing will prove to be just as popular.”
Filled with elevated basics- dunga dresses, cotton wrap skirts, pretty print tees, slouchy sweaters, khaki jumpsuits, boyfriend shirts and embroidered camis- these are the sorts of pieces you can pull out of your wardrobe on any given day and feel instantly comfortable.
“All of our new collection is inspired by travel and our unique, bohemian upbringing,” Paul says. “We’ve based it on friends we met travelling and equally friends who you’d head to Glastonbury with. We’re excited to start seeing everyone wear our new designs!”
Given the effortless appeal of these clothes, coupled with the fact that 10% of all profits go towards the boys’ charity, Orphans for Orphans, it all feels like a bit of a no-brainer. With Rob and Paul’s sights firmly set on Malawi as the location for their second children’s home, Gandys is only going from strength to strength. Long may it continue.
