Simon Cowell has sent his best wishes to Cheryl and Liam Payne after the birth of their son.
And while the X Factor mogul is yet to meet the little boy, he’d be more than happy to be named godfather.

Simon Cowell is clearly delighted for Cheryl and Liam Payne
Simon, 57, tells the Daily Mirror: ‘I haven’t had the call yet but I would be a godfather if asked.
‘Cheryl seems in a good place. Having gone through it myself it is quite nerve racking, but this is going to be the making of her. From people I know who have been with her, apparently she’s ecstatic so I’m happy for her.’
Simon admits that he’s never been to Cheryl’s house, but reckons it could be fun to set up a play date with his son Eric.
He continues: ‘We were friends but not that friendly. If I get an invite I would go round to visit. Or she can come down to the show with him and they can make friends with Eric.’

Aw. Cheryl, 33, and 23-year-old Liam are yet to speak out about godparents. TBH, this isn’t exactly surprising – they haven’t even announced the name of their newborn.

But it looks like there might be some competition for Simon. Liam’s One Direction bandmate Harry Styles also reckons he could be in the running.
Harry, 23, told Manchester radio station Key 103 last week: ‘I’m not going to add any extra pressure. If it came my way I would be honoured. I think it’s a roll of the dice, there are a lot of people Liam has in mind.’I spoke to Liam and he’s loving it. He said it’s going really well and everyone’s great. So I’m very happy for him.’
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
