From entertaining friends to cuddling up in front of Elf (mince pies essential), Look influencer Lilah Parsons shares our passion for a more muted festive look. Using pieces from both the Winter Warm and Noel collections, Lilah talked us through some of her top tips, and what she loves most about dressing her home in time for Christmas.
‘Layering up the sofa with lots of different cushions, cosy rugs and faux fur blankets adds real richness and texture to your overall lounge look, especially when working against white walls,’ Lilah told us when discussing the gorgeous fluffy offerings in the Winter Warm range.
‘Sometimes when you think about decorating for Christmas you immediately turn to more traditional trends such as bright reds and greens — which can be quite garish — whereas paring it back and keeping the palette neutral looks incredibly rustic and stylish.’
‘I love the idea of using eucalyptus stems and twine as decorative hanging garlands, as it looks effortlessly chic and retro. Simple ideas like these tie in so well with the collection as it’s so homely and Scandinavian – you can imagine yourself curling up for Christmas in some mountain alpine lodge!’
Also, we’re calling time on tacky decorations. Dunelm’s Noel collection is full of delicate antique-style glass baubles, feathers and frosted fancies that are 100% #interiorgoals.
‘Incorporating natural elements such as pine cones really highlights Noel’s pretty whites and reflective surfaces,’ Lilah told us. ‘I like the idea that baubles don’t necessarily have to go on the tree. Arrange them with candles on surfaces to create a little festive feature.’
And Lilah’s favourite buy?
‘I’m not averse to having a blanket in every room of the house, so I absolutely adore the chunky pom pom blanket. It’s really cool and can be used all year round!’
