*Packs bags and leaves*

We all know house prices in London are spenny. Spenny as in, unless you’re on some serious salary, you’ll need to save for years in order to buy your own. The other option, meanwhile, is to evade the deposit and rent, which will essentially cost you even more in the long run. Sigh. As Brexit is in full swing and the euro edges closer to the value of the pound, then, Money Transfer Comparison decided now would a good time to look at the differences between what the average London house price can get you overseas. Brace yourselves.
A one bedroom, one kitchen, one bathroom flat in East Dulwich costing £550,000 will get you a seven bedroom seaside villa in Tirana in Albania. And not just any old villa- a villa featuring four floors, a salon, four bathrooms and two kitchens. You’ll even be left with £100,000.

For half the price of said flat, you could also get an entire private island in Belize, Central America, complete with jetty and pool. Seriously.
How about a castle? £400,473 will get you an 11 bedroom castle in Rhone-Alpes, France. Add to that two bathrooms, a study, a dining room, a cellar and a garage.
There are two things to take from this: 1) if standard of living is important to you, you’ll want to consider living outside of London. 2) Love London too much to leave? Be prepared to pay a lot (and we mean, a lot) for where you live. Both rent and buying. Looks like we’re in for a lot of saving…
